Kodie Conner teams up with Chris Woods Racing to drive a Bandolero in the 2009

Kodie  Conner ends 2008 on a strong note: Awaits Bandolero debut

Kodie Conner ended 2008 on a strong note, he went to fall nationals at his home race track in Salisbury NC and didn’t disappoint anyone. In Jr. Honda he timed 3rd which started him 2nd.  On the start of the race Kodie fell in line and by lap 2 he was leading. Kodie went on to finish 2nd in which was probably the best race of the year.  He battled another competitor swapping the lead every other lap. In Jr. Stock he set fast time and won the A-main.

In Kodie’s light Mod debut young Kodie had his hands full, he timed 9th which put him in the B-main.  Kodie started 2nd in the B-main and by the time the field got to turn 2 he had a 5 car length lead. A rash of early cautions and a very loose handling race car Kodie fell back to 4th.    While in 4th the leaders got together and Kodie with no where to go wheel hopped third place and he flipped and got a flat right front and bent a steering rod.

Kodie’s crew put a new right front tire and straightened the steering rods that bent and then he finished 4th in the B-main which put him 9th for the A-main. While waiting for the feature the crew went to work and fixed the car in preparation for the A-main, they never got a chance as the rains came and with that the end of racing for fall nationals.

The 2008 season was a complete success for Kodie, He won 34 races in 59 starts.  Here are the highlights of the wins:

Winner - Region 3 Jr. Stock championship

Winner -NCQMA Summer Series championship for Jr. Stock.

Winner - NCQMA Weekend Series points for Jr. Honda, Jr. stock.

Kodie almost swept all the championship series he raced but he fell short by one point in the Region 3 Jr. Honda series.

Kodie is ready to take the next step in his racing career, with the help from Chris Woods Racing and Kevin “Bono” Manion.  In early 2009 he will debut in the Bandolero series.

Kodie, and his father Shannon, are expecting big things next year. Kodie will still compete at the NCQMA track in Salisbury, which will be the last year for his competition in Jr. Honda, and Jr. Stock.

Kodie cannot wait to dominate again in 2009.  He is looking forward to championship wins again at the NCQMA track, and Region 3!

Kodie Conner signs Driver Development Deal with Kevin"BONO" Manion. Kodie Conner of Kannapolis, North Carolina might have just got the break that young kids dream about.  He and his father, Shannon, have signed a driver development deal with Kevin "BONO" Manion, crew chief for Martin Truex Jr., who works for Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.  Kodie, who turned seven on February 7th  of this year, has come along way in his short racing career.  He started practicing when he was four years old at the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association track (NCQMA) in Salisbury, North Carolina.  He began his racing career at the age of five and started in the Junior Honda Novice class.  Kodie won 4 races, set 5 fast times and had 12 top 3 finishes in 26 races.  These statistics are not bad for a little kid who could barely see over the steering wheel.            In 2007, Kodie moved up to the Junior Stock division and the Junior Honda division which is one of the toughest classes in Quarter Midget racing.  In these two divisions he had 16 wins and 28 top 3 finishes in 48 starts.  He also won the championship for the Junior Stock division.  In 2008 it seems as Kodie is starting to understand his driving ability more and hitting his stride.  In 53 starts he has 31 wins, 45 top 3 finishes, 15 fast times and 8 track records in 4 different states.  He also has 1 championship in junior stock at NCQMA this year for the Summer Series and is leading the points in Junior Honda at NCQMA.  Kodie is also leading the points series for Region 3 which includes the states of Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and Alabama in both the Junior Stock and Honda series.   One of Kodie’s best moments this year came when he traveled to Meridian, Connecticut and was entered in the Eastern Grands.  This was the first time Kodie has entered into the Grands and he did not disappoint anyone.  He had an early draw in both divisions and had to work his way through the heat races. In Junior Honda Kodie timed 27th which put him in the G main. He won his next 4 races in a row and finished fourth in the B main which transferred him to the A main.  In the A main he had a difficult time with a very tight handling car and finished 8th  which is not bad for the first time.  In Junior Stock Kodie timed 20th which put him in the F main.  He won the F main and was passing for second in the E main when an accident forced him to withdraw from the race. As you can see Kodie Conner is driving toward his goal to be a future Sprint Cup champion.

11/28/08 Kodie timed his Jr Honda 3rd and was fast time in Jr Stock. He made his first start in Lt Mod and timed 9th.Kodie started 2nd in the B-main in Lt Mod and took the lead at the green flag. He had his hands full with a loose carand was running 4th when 1st and 2nd spun and the track was blocked and Kodie went flipping to a stop on the front stretch. The car had to pit to fix a bent front and a flat tire.Kodie went back out on a mission to make the A-main and wound up 4th at the checkerd flag.Kodie started 2nd in his Jr Honda and was leading on lap 2 he led a hand full of laps then swapped the lead several times and wound up 2nd at the checkerd flag. The Jr Stock and Lt Mod race were rained out and placed by qualifing times.

11/1/08 Kodie timed his Jr Honda 2nd and his Jr Stock 1st.Kodie went on to finish 2nd in jr Honda and 2nd in Jr Stock.

10/25/08 Kodie timed his Jr Honda 4th and his Jr Stock first with a New Track Record. Kodie had his pan-arm bar mount break during hot laps. Kodie was determined to finish and he drove from last to a solid 3rd place finish with a front axle that moved about 7 inches every time he went into the turn.Kodies Jr Stock he had to start at the rear of the pack do to changing oil and drove to 2nd place with a last lap pass.

10/18/08 Kodie timed his Jr Honda 3rd and his Jr Stock 2nd.Kodie drove his Jr Stock to a strong second with a caution free race.Kodie also finished 2nd in his Jr Stock in another caution free race. How about them great Jr racers.

10/11/08 Kodie timed his Jr Honda 4th and his Jr Stock 5th.Kodie finished 8th in Jr Honda with a last lap charge for the lead put him to the rear. Jr Stock kodie got in to a worm up lap crash and had to come into pit and replace steering arm.Kodie started last and in no time was in the lead with no pressure for the win.

10/4/08 Kodie timed his Jr Honda 1st with a new Track Record and finished 5th in the A-Main.Kodie also timed his Jr Stock 1st with a new Track Record and went on to win the A-main at Music City Region 3 race.
